“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.’
- Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 - 1894) Scottish essayist, novelist, poet, fiction and travel writer. Happy Monday friends! Sharing a few thoughts with you on motivation, mindset and growth! 😊 What a beautiful day to wake up to; sunshine and clear skies! A bright and happy morning! A remarkable difference from last week’s deluge of rain. Whether it is sunny or rainy outside; you can choose to be positive and motivated! You can’t control your external environment although you can control how you respond to it. Your self-talk can easily derail you from what you’re capable of and what your purpose and motivation is. You can change your thoughts. Think about what you’re thinking about. Notice how and what you are feeling, emotionally, and physically. Take a look inside or have a listen. Speak truth and encouragement to yourself. Focus on a time when you were at your very best, when everything was going well and running smoothly. How and what did you feel in those moments? Tune your heart and mind into those moments. Plant yourself in this soil and grow! You have faced difficult challenges in your past and you have overcome them. The challenges aren’t in your way to stop you, they’re there to help you grow! Think of a plant that began as a seed, then sprouted and began to grow upwards and outwards. With each element of nourishment, including talk lol, it grew and thrived and continues to grow and reach higher. Think of yourself as the plant, growing and flourishing with each element of positivity, encouragement and inspiration! Who or what inspires you and helps you grow in your professional and personal life...or both?! Who will you share a cup of tea or coffee with, to encourage, inspire and motivate each other? Share your thoughts in the comments! 😊 😊 😃 ☀️ 🍵 ☕️ 🍰 🧁 💐 🌸 🌺 🌼🌻🌷🌹 🍃 🌱 🌿 #tea #afternoontea #alwaystimefortea #teatime #metime #taketimeforyou #taketimeforyourfriends #thetealady #spreadingjoy #encouragement #inspiration #motivation #mondaymotivation #monday #monslay #newweek #goals #grow #vibes #positive #celebratethespecialmoments #seemomentsinlife #community #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #womeninbusiness #langleybusiness #langley #fraservalley #yvr “Every child is an artist. "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." - Albert Einstein Happy Friday friends! Fri-yay!! Hope you all had a fantastic and productive week! This past week was filled to the brim...actually, truthfully overflowing; each day, with intensity, creativity, fun, learning, thinking, planning, imagining, growing, believing, and profound, encouraging breakthroughs!! Abundant gratitude!! in my heart for @teriholland 😊 Often small business owners forget about themselves while they are busy managing their companies. It is highly beneficial to continually pursue personal growth combined with professional development. It helps boost your morale and sharpens the tools in your toolbox. Some of the things you can do, if you haven’t done so already are: Hire a business or life coach Set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, relative, time-bound goals - Be flexible - Stay open - Imagine the possibilities Learning and creativity are synonymous; “go hand-in-hand.” Speaking about hands; I love using my hands and my mind when I’m writing the “old-school” way and when I’m creating a craft or working on a project. Check out the links for the centerpiece I am creating (planning a menu as well) for our dinner table to celebrate my husband’s Birthday, (which was yesterday...ergo my later IG post today) 😉 What tools do you use in your personal and business life to sharpen your mind or your craft? Do you love creating? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 😊😄❤️☕️🎂🍰🧁🌺🌼🌻🍁🍂🍃🌱 #tea #afternoontea #teatime #alwaystimefortea #thetealady #spreadingjoy #metime #taketimeforyou #taketimeforyourfriends #love #friends #september #autumn #friday #friyay #fridaymood #fridayvibes #flowers #craft #create #learn #dowhatyoulove #memories #celebratethespecialmoments #womeninbusiness #smallbusinessowner #supportsmallbusiness #bossladies #fraservalley #yvr https://www.inc.com/annabel-acton/10-einstein-quotes-to-fire-up-your-creativity.html http://www.mypaintedgarden.com/2012_06_01_archive.html https://homeiswheretheboatis.net/2020/09/21/create-a-foraged-autumn-harvest-arrangement/ 9/23/2020 0 Comments Wellness Wisdom for Wednesday“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole world revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.” - Thich Nhat Hanh The season of Autumn. A beautiful time of year when the trees and plants change into various warm colours before the leaves fall. The weather cools off, and it's time to say goodbye to summer and welcome fall weather before winter arrives. Truthfully, I love summer!!...it’s my most favourite season, although I truly appreciate and revel in the splendour of Nature and magnificent artwork of the season. A time to get out the warm sweaters, socks, and boots. Doesn’t everyone love boots? 😉 A time to drink hot beverages; tea, hot chocolate and ciders. Ahhh 😌 so soothing. You can light the fireplace, or “put another log on the fire” 😆 did you sing the lyrics in your head just now? 😆 sit down and relax in a comfy chair and wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, curl up with a hot cup of tea, a good book and perhaps some calming music. Pure bliss! Imagine that feeling and savour these special moments! Tea is an excellent option with loads of healthy benefits. Most of us reach for a cuppa java, to increase our alertness and energy levels. I thoroughly enjoy drinking a cup of high-quality, dark, hot coffee as well; true that. By early afternoon, I brew myself a steaming cup of tea. I anticipate the pleasure of tasting it even before it’s steeped. What a wonderful feeling. It’s even better when together with a #friend or more. Socially-distanced of course; in person on the porch or you could “meet” for tea via Zoom, could you not? 😉 There are many types of tea that contain caffeine; mostly the black varieties. If you desire a cup of tea with energy-bursting and mood-enhancing flavour without caffeine, there are many choices. I’ve listed a few here: Peppermint Tea - one of the most popular herbal teas in the world. This tea has shown improvement in cognitive skills, mood and memory, and supports digestive tract health. It also has antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant and anticancer properties. Some studies have shown peppermint oil to reduce daytime fatigue, sleepiness, and increase alertness which may improve concentration. Ginger Tea - another popular tea, with a delightful spicy taste and fruity aroma. The anti-inflammatory properties improve blood flow and the increased circulation from it, helps boost energy. Ginger tea is used in Chinese medicine as it aims directly at the body’s energy pathways. Chamomile Tea - can help reduce stress and increase focus. It’s a soothing tea with a delicate aroma that helps prevent the release of the stress hormone - serotonin. It increases the happy hormone - dopamine, which can reduce your worries. Sage Tea - scientific studies have shown benefits, especially for brain health. Improvements were also found with memory, mood, mental function and heart health. It may also be helpful in preventing neurodegenerative diseases. It is evident that drinking tea is beneficial for your health. Drinking tea and enjoying time with your friends is also highly beneficial for your health and psychologically comforting. The traditions and rituals and art of tea-drinking and gathering with friends make us feel calmer. Psychologists at Yale University, showed there are clear social benefits and noted that people who held hot beverages, were more likely to think of each other as more caring. Gather your friends in a socially-distanced and safe manner for a hot beverage and reap the numerous health benefits and the pleasure and treasure of friendship! I’ll raise a glass for your health when I drink my tea today! Who will you share a hot beverage with? What’s your favourite season? Share in the comments below. Yours in friendship and health. 😊 😊❤️💕🍵 ☕️🍰 🧁 🍁 🍂 🔥 📖 📚 🎼 🎶 🎵 #tea #afternoontea #timefortea #alwaystimefortea #thetealady #spreadingjoy #metime #teatime #taketimeforyou #wellnesswednesday #wednesdaywisdom #fall #autumn #september #season #selfcare #healthiswealth #healing #bewell #friends #celebratethespecialmoments #seemomentsinlife #womeninbusiness #smallbusinessowner #bossladies #langley #langleybc #fraservalley #yvr 9/21/2020 0 Comments Monday MotivationHappy Monday all!

She began taking aerobics classes at age 56, after years of avoiding exercise. She has won two bodybuilding titles, and run nine marathons, since this age. She is the leader of seniors exercise classes at the Union Memorial United Methodist Church in Baltimore, and a personal trainer. She is the author of “Determined, Dedicated, Disciplined To Be Fit”, published in 2016, at the age of 80. All this, because of a church picnic she was invited to with her sister, when she was in her 50’s! At age 71, she began working with a trainer. She was ready for her first bodybuilding show after seven months. She won first place! Since that time and each day, she lives by and teaches a mantra: “determined, dedicated, disciplined to be fit.” Listen to your dreams. They matter. Your purpose matters. Your voice matters. My voice matters. I intrinsically know what my passions and dreams are! I have achieved some dreams and I am working on achieving more dreams! You can achieve your dreams and fulfil your purpose too! He developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants over his 55-year career. Burbank's varied creations included fruits, flowers, grains, grasses, and vegetables. He developed (but did not create) a spineless cactus (useful for cattle-feed) and the plumcot. "Gardens and flowers have a way of bringing people together, drawing them from their homes." - Clare Ansberry, Pittsburgh bureau chief @ Wall Street Journal and the author of The Women of Troy Hill. Okay...so after the minor frustration 😖 of internet connectivity issues, I’m “here” now! 😉 😊 Happy Motivation Monday! You may have noticed; I love flowers! The joy and happiness they create; instantly. The smile on the faces of people you gift flowers to is incomparable. The smile on my face, when I see flowers and/or gift flowers to myself, to brighten my home and workspace or “just because.” There is something special about fresh flowers brightening up your home! It has long been known that being surrounded by nature and flowers boosts our moods, reduces our stress levels and aids in a restful night of sleep. The link to the colour of flowers and their sweet aromas are part of the mental health benefits. Flowers encourage creativity, ignite inspiration and help with memory and problem-solving. When some of these flowers are taken as tea, our bodies are cooled and relaxed. Flowers and plants make you feel as though you are in nature, even though you may be in a city dwelling away from the beauty of nature. Bright-coloured flowers, particularly red, are connected to concentration, while blue flowers encourage free thinking. Bright orange or yellow flowers, known for their antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties, are another cheerful colour to brighten up your space. The seemingly small gesture of giving someone a surprise bouquet of flowers, brings a smile, shows kindness and support. Since most of us are working remotely in our homes, let’s brighten up our desks, kitchen or coffee tables, (picnic tables outside or in backyard; (it’s still do-able aside from the smoke) and receive the benefits of being surrounded by beauty while savouring a cup of tea (or coffee). Looking forward to being together again with you all soon to share friendship, stories, tea, coffee and treats, around a cheerful tablescape of flowers! On the topic of giving someone a surprise; stay tuned to @thetealadyrita for teaboxes! Coming soon. I am motivated; diligently working and creating! A giftbox to present to your friends, family, colleagues and yourself! What types of flowers do you like? What types of decorations do you prefer for your table setting? I enjoyed an absolutely fantastic #wellnesswednesday with my loving, kind, generous, hilarious daughter, @amanda_siebert @scandinavewhis A breathtaking location experiencing the benefits at the outdoor silent spa! Did you see my photos in stories? It was an emotional, mental, physical and digital detox! A fun road trip sharing, laughing, dining @starbuckscanada @backcountrybrewing, listening to music and podcasts with Oprah and Brene Brown! A breathtaking location experiencing therapeutic benefits at this outdoor silent spa! No phones or talking allowed. (On a side note, I said to Amanda, Dad would love it here, because I can’t talk! 😂 Hubby laughed when I told him later and said, we need to find more places like that! 😆 Y’all need to go here if you haven’t yet! It is magnificent! Then, there were major family situations I had to take care of. Not fun, yet important and necessary. I know you all understand. Life happens and we need to deal with it. Thankfully, I was rested and rejuvenated before this. So, I thought I’d be open and share these little moments with you. Keeping it real. Thank you for “listening.” 😉 “It’s never too late to pursue your dreams” series continues. See posts of August 24th and 28th; I mentioned I would feature more stories about brilliant women who pursued their dreams later in life and succeeded! One of the most famous “after age 50 success stories” is the one of Julia Child, (Julia Carolyn Child), American author, cooking teacher and television personality. (August 15, 1912 - August 13, 2004) Julia Child is renowned for bringing French cuisine to America with the release of her groundbreaking cookbook “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” as well as her popular television show called “The French Chef.” For most of the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, Julia was a regular on television. When she was 37 years old, she was accepted to the exclusive, esteemed cooking school “Le Cordon Bleu” in Paris, France. She promptly advanced through numerous classes. She was the only woman among eleven men in a class for restaurateurs. At the age of 50, she launched her careers as a celebrity chef. She then wrote a cookbook, which became a bestseller when it was published in 1961, and remained the bestselling cookbook for five years. Her reputation as a cook and author grew and was sealed via several additional books, television appearances, awards and honours. It is said that she did more for French-style food preparation than anyone else in the world. She persevered even though there was a considerable gender disparity. You may remember, she was the inspiration for the 2009 film Julie and Julia, a comedy-drama, about the life of Julia Child during the 1950’s in Paris, based on a cooking blog by writer Julie Powell. The film, which starred Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, won Streep the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and received an Academy Award nomination. She was inducted into the Culinary Institute Hall of Fame at the age of 81 in 1993. After a 40-year career that made her famous with fine foods and placed her in the world’s most famous chefs, she received the highest honour in France, the “Legion D’Honneur. Following in 2002, an exhibit was unveiled at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Following “The French Chef” show, she hosted additional cooking shows into the year 2000, only four years before her death. Passing away two days before she would turn 92 years of age, she showed no intentions of slowing down. Apparently in her final days, she said “In this line of work you keep right on till you’re through, retired people are boring.” When she died on August 13, 2004, her total net worth was $38 million! “If you have a heartbeat, there’s still time for your dreams.” - Sean Stephenson What are you waiting for? What are you pursuing regardless of age? Share some of your dreams and goals below!
