Welcome to the Blog
Today is the day divinely chosen for me to enter the world! A Christmas present, the first-born baby for my late, beloved Mom and Dad. ❤️ 😃
Keeping it real. Sharing my story of what I experienced and how I felt as a child. “Your life is your story. Write well, edit often.” - Susan Statham Over the years, my birthday has inevitably and frequently been overlooked and “on the back burner” since it is so close to Christmas. Most everyone has already celebrated, partied, almost ad nauseam, eaten their fill, or beyond, imbibed (in excess, often) in favourite beverages, been together with family and friends, in-laws and out-laws, received and given gifts, displayed fatigue, apathy, sympathy and malaise. The words I often heard were “oh right, it’s your Birthday, I forgot.” “Oh darn, I didn’t get you a gift.” “Your present is combined with Christmas and your Birthday.” “Oh, sorry, I didn’t have Birthday wrapping, I only had Christmas paper rolls.” A Birthday cake/Christmas cake or single pastry, was a regular occurrence, for sake of convenience and/or pure laziness imho. On and on, were the excuses. You don’t get to look forward to a Birthday properly celebrated at a different time of year, when the sun is shining, maybe you’re camping or going to the park, pool or beach, where your day is fully acknowledged and celebrated with a Birthday cake, not a Yule log, or Christmas cookies, candy canes, and Santa chocolates. Being a “Christmas” baby sucked! 😖 Siblings and friends often said, “you always complain about your Birthday.” Blah, blah, blah. Well, duh! You would too, I thought...and in later years, spoke up and said audibly. It’s a big deal to you when you’re a kid. (I am certain there are others of you who have a Birthday in December and may have experienced some of these feelings as well.) When I was younger, I always felt cheated, ‘jipped’, forgotten and overlooked. It was like everyone else’s Birthday was more important, always celebrated with gifts given and received twice a year, whereas for me it was only once a year, if that even. As I got older, I realized that I was not going to allow this to “get to me” anymore! I knew that the day of my birth; my day, was especially chosen for me and equally as important as any other. The day I was born, I realized when able to understand, was beyond my control. I decided, (later in life together with my husband also) that my Birthday could and would be acknowledged on this day, as well as especially celebrated in January. During the first month of the year, there are no festivities, aside from New Year’s Day, and therefore I/we chose and choose to celebrate on a January weekend. I began, several years ago, to celebrate my day doing things that were important to me, made me happy, made my heart and soul sing, even if that was by myself, enjoying my own company. I thought of the joy my birth, as the first-born baby, brought to my parents, and I chose and I choose to be joyful on this day, and everyday, regardless. Thank you for “lending an ear” to my story. 🙏 Keeping it real, (no feeling sorry for myself) It is what it is. (Unfavourite phrase for me) I accept that. I focus on all the good, no matter what. I focus on being joyful and #spreadingjoy to everyone. I was created for this. The best gifts I can give and receive are joy and love. ❤️ 🤗 Today I choose joy. Every day I choose joy. “Owning your story is the bravest things you’ll ever do.” - Brené Brown Any other December babies out there? Tell us your story. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bailey’s, wine… Spread joy and give love to those able to be with you and cherish the memories. A good reminder to appreciate how blessed we are! Grateful for family, friends and so much more! Time lapse photos - from three hours again until about one hour ago. When it’s snowing outside, usually all you want to do is stay inside with a warm cuppa, sip and sit by the fire with a blanket, socks or a book...or all of the above; you decide. It’s the perfect time to slow down, rest, relax and reflect. Especially during the Christmas season. (when you consider the year you and I and all of us endured); take time for you and enjoy the warm, cozy feeling. Add some music, cookies and biscuits for a beneficial bonus and meaningful "metime"; an experience you will savour and remember. There’s still time to order a #teabox lovingly created for you or your special peeps to open and indulge in as you #celebrate #christmas What’s your favourite hot beverage? What gift items do you want to receive in a teabox? Do you love snow? What are you grateful for? Today is National Elf Day. It’s a thing!
Did you know? Elves and Santa drink tea! Here are a few funnies for your Friday! Q: What kind of music do elves like best? A: Wrap music! Q: What do you call an elf who wins the lottery? A: Welfy! Q: What’s the first thing elf children learn in school? A: The elf-abet! Q: What kind of photos do elves like taking? A: Elfies of course! Funny puns or lame puns?! You decide. 😆 Okay...I need some humour and light reading after the last almost 2 months! Major renovations, helping kids move, running a business, running errands (my truck is on autopilot to @rona @lowes @homedepot) lol online learning and researching, and managing a farm together with my husband! This is one exhausted, tea-drinking elf-trepreneur over here! On that note, I will be taking some time off and much-needed time away from my regular, full schedule! I will still be chatting with you, following you, sharing and laughing and crying with you, just less content postings. I am looking forward to relaxing, resting, rejuvenating, reflecting, and reading. Oh and I’m getting my hair done too. Oh and more more thing...I’ll also schedule a spa appointment for the fabulous Five Day Giving prize I won from @langleychamber and @simplyspalangley I am happy. I am fortunate. I am thankful. Impeccable timing for winning this Gift Card. Most importantly, I will be celebrating Christmas with joy and thankfulness, even though it’s been a challenging year for all of us. I am incredibly grateful for you! your support and encouragement. Thank you for sharing your friendship, kindness, patience, wisdom, wit, and humour! Here’s more about what I am thankful for! I am ueber excited and super thankful for the marvelous opportunity and pleasure I had two days ago, being one of the feature presenters at the @valleywomensassn_lang Zoom meeting! A special thank you and shout out to @rfcindyb for connecting and bringing us together! It was a fun and informative virtual gathering with some fabulous female entrepreneurs! I always love meeting new people, interacting and sharing, especially women with such great businesses. It was entertaining and informative to watch as @list.with.lizcrawford of RE/MAX Treeland and @maritime_seafoods_inc demonstrate the preparation of lobster!! Yummy! It was also very interesting and informative to learn about some of the other women vendors and their services and products in their businesses! It was a wonderful Wednesday, even though truthfully, I was nervous. I felt like I “bombed” my presentation. I forgot to share a few things I intended to, though I had fun showing the variety of teas, treats and gift items I lovingly curate and locally and ethically source for you! What I really love about it, is that a portion of the proceeds of teaboxes you will buy “Empower Women and Eliminate Poverty”, providing microloans, education, support, health and health education to help impoverished women in Guatemala build a better future for themselves and their families. Thank you. Thank you. Do you love Elf? Are you a tea-drinking Elf? Coffee? Bailey’s? Wine? Which treats do you eat with your beverage? Do you wanna have a “Tea” or “Coffee” Date over Zoom? (btw, some cute hand-lettered mugs and wine tumblers available for you hand-made by @celebratewithkait cookies by @jarsbyjodi, cookies by @janicethewhiteoven and hand-rolled artisan truffles by @ladnerchoc - you know what to do - DM me. Only 7 days left ! Thank you.) 🍪 🍵 ☕️ 🍷 🍹 How will you be celebrating your Christmas Holidays in 2020? 🌲 🥂 Share your traditions, elf stories, and favourite beverages in the comments below. You are beau-”tea”-ful! 💕 Flowers are the quintessential gift for giving! Giving flowers is the ultimate display of love and friendship! Watch 👀the facial expressions of people receiving flowers! Did you know? 🤔 Flowers improve emotional health. Flowers have an abiding positive effect on your mood. When you receive flowers, you feel less anxious, depressed and/or upset. You experience a greater sense of joy and satisfaction in life. Flowers make your home, your space more welcoming and create a sharing atmosphere. “The Emotional Impact of Flowers Study was conducted by Jeannette M. Haviland-Jones, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Project Director, Human Development Lab at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Dr. Haviland-Jones is a psychologist and internationally recognized authority in the role of emotional development in human behavior and nonverbal emotional signals and responses.” - excerpt from ‘About Flowers’ (see #linkinbio) You need something in your life to improve your emotional health, after a challenging, precarious, troublesome and unparalleled year. You can buy flowers for yourself and send some to your BFF’s. You can choose to add them as an extra loving “touch” to a custom-made Teabox. Imagine the smiles and the joy your loved ones will feel when they receive a gift box filled with teas, treats, chocolates, cookies, a wine tumbler, tea cup, or coffee mug (P.M.S.-Pour me S’More; You’re such a…, Hello Beau-tea-ful) limited quantities available for you) AND a bouquet of flowers! Whether you will decide on exotic flowers, wildflowers, a bouquet of flowers or a single stem, you can be sure, you will have planted smiles and harvested love. You will feel double the joy! “Friends are the family you choose.” - Listen, smile, crank up the volume and dance to this catchy tune from “The LEGO Batman Movie Official Soundtrack | Friends Are Family” and tell us honestly if you’re already feeling happier. Funny flowers puns for that you can write on a gift tag or card for your teabox gift-giving: Aloe you vera much! 😂 I hope thistle show you how much I love you! 😝 I think of you every daisy! 😉 Which will you choose as gifts to your special people? It’s the season of warm sweaters, wooly socks, slippers and boots. (Everyone loves boots right?!) 😉 It's also the time to drink hot beverages; tea, coffee (with Bailey’s) 😉 hot chocolate, ciders and tasty treats. 😌 So soothing and delicious. 😋 With the cold weather and the covid situation, you have the perfect excuse; it’s an ideal time to stay inside. You can light the fireplace, or “put another log on the fire” 😆 “and boil up a pot of tea”.. did you sing the lyrics in your head just now? 😆 🎤 🎼 (loosely paraphrased from Waylon Jennings and The Outlaws tune), the original was “Throw Another Log on the Fire” sung by Jim Reeves album “Songs to Warm my Heart.” You deserve a break, yes you!...turn on the kettle, grab your favourite mug, warm your hands, relax in your favourite comfy chair, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, curl up with a good book and listen to music. Imagine that feeling you will feel, being mesmerized by the glowing flames, sipping your cuppa and savouring your special moments! Blissful #metime and #selfcare Tea is an excellent option with loads of healthy benefits. Here are eight reasons for you:
Drinking tea and enjoying time alone (or with your friends, when possible...socially-distanced or virtually) is beneficial for your health and psychologically comforting. #icymi a few times in previous posts, I mentioned our ongoing renos. On that note, (🎶 pun intended) 😉 I am SO looking forward to some alone time with a hot cuppa and no more subtrades and contractors in my home with the loud noises!! No more trips to the hardware stores. I should have a “reserved” parking stall at Home Depot, Rona and Lowe’s; I’ve been there so often for the last several weeks! My truck is almost on “auto pilot” at this point. The renos are almost done! ✅ 💃 In case you’re interested, here are the lyrics. Fitting for this season of winter, warmth and wanting to be together with loved ones, imho 💕 🤗 “Throw another log on the fire Keep my golden memories aglow I don't see the face of my loved one When the love's a burning low. Throw another log on the fire Bring back all the sweetest days I've known When our hearts were young in the springtime And her love was mine alone. There's nothing left but the embers Springtime seems so long ago Throw another log on the fire Keep my golden memories aglow.” Yours in friendship and health. 😊 🤗 🍵 ☕️🍰 🧁🍫 🍪 🔥 📖 📚 🎼 🎶 🎵 #tea #afternoontea #timefortea #alwaystimefortea #thetealady #spreadingjoy #teatime #taketimeforyou #wellnesswednesday #wednesdaywisdom #wellness #december #healthiswealth #therapy #fire #music #memories #celebratethespecialmoments #seemomentsinlife #womeninbusiness #smallbusinessowner #bossladies #langley #langleybc #fraservalley #yvr #linkinbio @savvyreader @cupsthatcheer 📷 AlexMaster 12/7/2020 0 Comments Memories, Moments, and Milestones.December 7th, 1999 - A day that changed my life forever.
"When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." Author unknown Hello friends! Hello new week! Wishing you all a week full of joy! 😊 Sharing with you, a glimpse into and about this milestone date and how it’s become part of my WHY. I’m always all about #spreadingjoy Today though, I’m reflecting on who and what is important in life imho, due to losing numerous loved ones and friends. 😔 Good thing I'm not writing on paper, else it would be damp from my leaky eyes, 👀 as I fondly reminisce about good times, happy times, hard times, and sad times. Keeping it real and being vulnerable in today’s post. 😢 ❤️ Today is the day, 21 years ago, that my beloved and dear Dad (Papa; I used to call him at a young age, (Opa, our children called him when they were at a young age) breathed his last here on earth. 😭 He literally lifted his arms (I was there #irl) “And under His wings you will find refuge…” (Psalm 91:5 AMP) and his soul flew to Heaven. 👼 😇 Talk about a profound, heart-wrenching and sad experience!! 😭 The hardest part for me, which I struggled with immensely is...how do I tell my tender-hearted young children, when I pick them up from elementary school later today, December 7, 1999, that their beloved Opa is gone and went to Heaven? Okay, hold on a minute here, while I wipe my leaky eyes again. That was SO incredibly hard. 😭 Over the years I have realized you need to tell people you love them, AND not only tell them, show them over and over again. Since that day, I determined to, with all my heart, soul and strength, love people passionately and freely, and share moments and memories with them! ❤️ 💕 If Dad, Opa was here, we’d share a cuppa and some delicious, home-baked treats lovingly baked by Mom, Oma (she’s gone too to be with Dad). We’d tell jokes, laugh and talk about special times and life. 😆 🍵 ☕️ 🍪 Take the time to let your special people know you love them; tell them. Share memories over a cup of tea or coffee. (physically-distanced of course or virtually) Reminisce while enjoying a delicious meal or snack together. Talk about things that make your heart sing, your soul happy and spread joy. “Life is to be celebrated! Today’s moments are tomorrow’s memories!” - Rita Siebert My goal is to love, spread joy, create memories and gifts that bring smiles to people’s faces. This is my WHY. Thank you for “listening.” What is your Why? Who is important in your life? Who will you share a teabox with so you can cherish the moments while enjoying your treats? Who would you share a teabox with to reminisce about the good ol’ days, if there were still here with you? Share your thoughts, memories and moments with us in the comments. As cliche as it sounds; “Life is short.” “Tomorrow is never promised. Love and appreciate the people in your life.” - Rita Siebert Check out my friend’s @mybcconsulting IG post of December 6th to read similar sentiments about “Tell someone you love them today…” Do it now! Do it today! Do it everyday! “Grief reminds me to love more openly To express more freely To feel more deeply To live more fully Grief reminds me of all that I have lost And all that I still have Of all that I was And all that I can be Grief reminds me the memories made The memories still to make Of what has been done Of what is left to do Grief reminds me That Love Never Dies.” - Tanya Lord #tea #afternoontea #teatime #teabox #thetealady #love #life #live #cherish #inspiration #treasure #family #friends #noregrets #monday #mondaymood #celebratethespecialmoments #seemomentsinlife #moments #memories #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #womeninbusiness #linkinbio #langley #fraservalley #fraservalleybossladies #yvr @signature_experience_events @ritamargaritafarmer 12/4/2020 0 Comments National Cookie Day!Happy Friday! 😃 Happy National Cookie Day! 🍪

He is best known for his voracious appetite for cookies and his famous eating phrases, such as "Me want cookie!", "Me eat cookie!"
