Welcome to the Blog
☀️ 😎 Setting the scene for your party: The outdoor season is here! Yeah! The sun and warm air are luring us outside and you have the perfect reason to host a boutique garden or patio party! ☀️ 🎉 A garden party should ideally be held in a beautiful setting like your garden or backyard, a scenic park or community garden. A tranquil setting surrounded by flowers, flowering shrubs and trees and plants with flowers and/or even vegetables. Ensure you choose a spot with shade so you and your guests can enjoy comfortably without the heat. Look for trees that spread a lot of shade, an arbor that is covered with grapevines and tall hedges or canopies and tents. 🌲 🌳 Theme: Choose a reason and a theme for your party. Your ideas and planning will be easier. You can align it with the menu, venue and even the dress code. It can be afternoon tea, bbq with friends, girl’s night out at the movies, casual backyard bbq, birthday or your important milestone. How about an “unquarantine” party for some fun?! 😂 Invitations: Send hand-written or typed invitations for an extra special touch. Send them via regular mail. 📫 A tactile invitation: a real hold-in-your-hands envelope ✉️ has a much higher opening rate than an email invitation. Whether you choose, snail mail or email, ensure you send your invitations well in advance, so your guests receive them and reply in a timely manner. This helps you with your planning. Ensure your invitations are informative; tell your guests and friends, the occasion, dress code, (if applicable) and if they need to bring anything or not. Decorations: Your garden party will be beautiful as is in a nature setting. If you choose to add to your setting, you can order decorations for rent, buy, or borrow, and/or craft your own. What if you host a crafting party with your friends?! That will be lots of fun! Whether you choose, simple or fancy, it will look lovely and unique. Take some clear glasses or vases and fill them with flowers and/or sprigs of fresh herbs. These will delight your guests' visual and olfactory senses. You can visit some of our local thrift stores and you will find a wide variety of well-priced, unique items to decorate. For flowers, you can choose one kind of flower or several different varieties. Think of sweet peas, peonies, petunias, roses, ranunculus, geraniums, heather, sunflowers, or fuchsias. Add hanging baskets for varying heights of your floral decor. 💐 🪴 You can use outdoor lighting if your event goes into the evening. This adds a festive touch to your party and provides light to the patio, walkways, and yard. 💡 When adding linens, choose a colour or two that combine well with the outdoor theme. Think colours of blue, green, red, and yellow, like the sky, the trees, the flowers, and the sun. Add some appeal by placing your decorations on varying heights of small tables, tiered stands, wooden crates, or hay bales. Hang some embellishments in the greenery nearby to dazzle the eyes as they sway in the breeze. 👀 💨 Set up and use comfy chairs, and an assortment of pillows, which can go with your theme. Ensure there are enough, even more than enough seating, before your party begins so your guests and friends will feel welcome and comfortable. 🪑 Planning a menu: Food and catering is a very important consideration for your event. What’s a party without food?!! Your menu should be planned at the very least, one week before your event so you have time to shop and prepare for what you will need. When you choose a more formal event, with more guests and a larger outdoor gathering, the caterer and planner will require a minimum of one month in advance. Always keep your guests in mind. Be sure you ask your friends about allergies and/or dietary concerns, so you can advise your caterer and planner. 🥘 🍗 Prepare! Prepare your outdoor living area well before your guests arrive so that it is ready, and you can relax and focus on welcoming them. Clean, clean, clean!! Declutter your space where you envision your party will be. Think of past events you’ve attended where things were out of place, untidy or caused you pesky grievances, so you can avoid these from happening to guests at your party. You want to make a positive impression and a welcoming, memorable experience and ambiance. Make sure the lawn is cut, weeds are pulled, low-hanging limbs are trimmed and repair any fences or gates that may need some TLC. Clear eaves, sweep away any cobwebs and hide the garbage cans. Remove garden hoses and supplies, toys, pet beds and anything else that is unsightly, and/or possibly hazardous, not in line with the atmosphere you are aiming to present. 😊 You also want to ensure your guests don’t go home with unpleasant memories because of bug bites or sunburn. Nothing will make your guests more “buggy” and crabby than having to swipe and swat away at annoying, buzzing and stinging insects. Bug off bugs!! Buy and/or make your own repellant and pest control. If you choose natural, use bay leaves, cloves, basil, sage, and peppermint, by scattering them and plant or place potted marigolds around. Have a small, discreetly placed, away from food; supply of bug spray, hand sanitizer, individual wipes, SPF lotion or spray, band aids, kleenex, Polysporin and Advil just in case. ⛑ Plan, plan, plan! 🗓 ✍️ 💻 Have a plan! Yes, it does require effort and work. 😪 It is worth it when you have a successful and fun gathering with your special people. 😃 Set a budget. 💵 Discuss plans, ideas, and details with your planner. Always expect the unexpected and be prepared. Have a backup plan. The better and more prepared you are, the better you will prevent unfortunate occurrences, and the more you will relax, enjoy, and celebrate. 🎉 The happy feelings and wonderful sensations you will enjoy throughout your event and the memories you will create are priceless! 😃 The most important are: PLAN!
