Hydrangeas and Happiness for your Wednesday!

Happy Humpday! 😃

You and your friends (and your eyeballs) will “pop” at the beauty of these blooms! 🤩

Did you know? 🙋‍♀️ Hydrangeas represent gratitude, grace, heartfelt emotion, joy, and beauty. They are widely popular ornamental plants, well known and loved for their grand flowerheads. You probably know this already. 😊 They are the epitome of happiness and summer! You want to feel and share these fabulous feelings with your friends!

A pretty decoration. Easy for you or your event planner to arrange them and set your table. Whether you choose them at your next outdoor garden party, picnic in the park or afternoon tea, you will have a beautiful, visually-appealing centrepiece! 👀 💐

So easy; you cut some fresh flowers, place the stems in a vase, and you instantly capture the feelings of summer, while having a beautiful view! 😍

Here are 4 tips to make your cut hydrangeas last longer and prevent them from wilting:

  1. Cut off all the leaves near the bottom of the stems. The leaves drain moisture from the flower head and cloud the water in your vase.  Leave some leaves (is that good-sounding English grammar? 😁) close to the blossoms.

  1. Use a sharp knife 🔪 and cut your stems on an angle. This way the bloom receives the most water.  Ensure your knife is sharp as the stems are tough.  💪

  1. Buy some alum at your favourite grocery store. (check the spice aisle).  When you cut your stems, give them a brief dip into the alum, then quickly place them in room-temperature to cool water. Flowers can fade or droop quickly in hot weather. 🥵

  1. You want your arrangement to last a long time, so be sure you cut the ends (which opens up the woody stem to take in fresh moisture) and change the water in your vase every other day. 😊

You can use any vase or container, depending on your personal preference and style. You can use real vases, old rustic-type jars, mason jars, ornamental glasses, wine goblets and for a different “look” use a teapot 🫖 (or 2) for a nice presentation.

What are your favourite flowers for a centrepiece or decoration?

Which flowers will you choose for your next summer outdoor event?

It’s almost August! 😱 (don’t even wanna think it right?) Summer will be over soon! 🔜 Don’t let the sun go down on you! 😂 😝 ☀️ a spin on Elton John’s famous song - “Don’t let the sun go down on me.” (another favourite rock star) 🎹 ❤️

Let’s plan now!  🏃‍♀️ ⏰ 🗓
