Oh Friday. Let me hug you! 🫂 Happy Friday friends! #icymi - I know I did. I missed it yesterday...“Hugging Day” January 21, 2021 One thing you will know about me is that I am a hugger!! I love hugging! 5 reasons why you should make hugging part of your daily routine:
According to Virginia Satir {(1916 - 1988) influential American author, renowned psychotherapist and honoured with the title “Mother of Family Therapy” for her pioneering work.}: “We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.” As social beings, we are created for connection, community and cooperation. Hugging teaches us about giving and receiving. Hugs are akin to laughter and meditation. You encourage understanding and empathy, when you hug; investments in your relationships. Hugging helps us feel connected. We know, especially in this Covid time how much we miss our BFF’s and special peeps. We are living in a time of isolation and some are deprived of touch. Our social nature craves togetherness and hugging. Hugs strengthen your immune system, contribute to relaxation, trust and psychological stability. We all need that, even more so now. The feelings provided from Oxytocin are contentment, pleasure, happiness, and euphoria; good-for- you feelings. Hugs get you out of your circular patterns of thought. Hugs boost your self-esteem and help you connect with your breathing, feelings and your heart. You have the power to improve your health. With utmost respect for those of you who don’t like hugging, possibly due to early childhood experience, cultural background and influence. Whatever the reasons; you should never do something that doesn't make you feel good imho 😊 🙏 Sending you lots of Vitamin H today, along with Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin Here’s to you getting your daily dose of the human love drug: Oxytocin!
