Happy Friday! Do a happy dance today! Do you know why you gotta dance today?? 😃 💃
Firstly, it’s Friday! You made it! Secondly, it’s “National Dance Like a Chicken Day!” 🐓 🐔 💃 😝 Did you know that? Did you know that I love chickens, roosters and feathered fowl? Did you know @the tealadyrita is also a chicken lady? @ritamargaritafarmer You have heard of The “Chicken Dance” song right? It was popular in the 80’s and 90’s; (it was reintroduced to the U.S. in the early 1970’s) we danced it at our wedding and numerous other weddings and parties over 30 years. Fun, fantastic, feathered fitness! 😜 It was composed by accordion player Werner Thomas from Davos, Switzerland, in the 1950s. (side note...did you know this tea lady and chicken lady also plays accordion and took lessons for many years?) 🪗 You can read more interesting facts @ Chicken Dance - Wikipedia Chickens and roosters are fun and funny fowl. They have distinct characteristics and personalities. Some are loud, some are quiet, some are bossy, and some are gentle in nature. They are entertaining and amusing to watch. They are eggcellent, (pun intended) loyal and unique feathered friends. They have social structures like people do. There is a “pecking order”, and “I rule the roost” among these birds; that’s where the well-known quotes/cliches came from. It’s a fact that chickens raised on a farm, with free range, free from chemicals and pesticides, natural pasture, organic compost and lots of daylight, lay lovely, delicious, and nutritious, eggs with a dark yellow-coloured yolk, sometimes double yolks. They make for tasty breakfasts, sandwiches and rich flavours in homemade baking. The rooster may crow but the hen delivers the goods. 😂 🥚 aka “Butt Nuggets” 😝 “Heard of the saying ‘I rule this roost’? It definitely has practical applications! The chickens work out their social structure in their early weeks of life, and each are definitely well aware of where they stand in the order. They can even recognise the individual faces of the others in the coop. Where they are in the pecking order often dictates how they exhibit their personalities - just like humans! The hens who rule the roost may seem fearless and boisterous, whereas the ones down the bottom are often shy. If one of the low ranked chickens tries to feed before their leaders, they may get a nasty jab to teach them a lesson! The similarities between chickens and people seem to be piling up…observe your flock outside the coop and see if you can identify who's boss!” (excerpt from Backyard Chicken Coops website.)
