9/23/2020 0 Comments Wellness Wisdom for Wednesday“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole world revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.” - Thich Nhat Hanh The season of Autumn. A beautiful time of year when the trees and plants change into various warm colours before the leaves fall. The weather cools off, and it's time to say goodbye to summer and welcome fall weather before winter arrives. Truthfully, I love summer!!...it’s my most favourite season, although I truly appreciate and revel in the splendour of Nature and magnificent artwork of the season. A time to get out the warm sweaters, socks, and boots. Doesn’t everyone love boots? 😉 A time to drink hot beverages; tea, hot chocolate and ciders. Ahhh 😌 so soothing. You can light the fireplace, or “put another log on the fire” 😆 did you sing the lyrics in your head just now? 😆 sit down and relax in a comfy chair and wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, curl up with a hot cup of tea, a good book and perhaps some calming music. Pure bliss! Imagine that feeling and savour these special moments! Tea is an excellent option with loads of healthy benefits. Most of us reach for a cuppa java, to increase our alertness and energy levels. I thoroughly enjoy drinking a cup of high-quality, dark, hot coffee as well; true that. By early afternoon, I brew myself a steaming cup of tea. I anticipate the pleasure of tasting it even before it’s steeped. What a wonderful feeling. It’s even better when together with a #friend or more. Socially-distanced of course; in person on the porch or you could “meet” for tea via Zoom, could you not? 😉 There are many types of tea that contain caffeine; mostly the black varieties. If you desire a cup of tea with energy-bursting and mood-enhancing flavour without caffeine, there are many choices. I’ve listed a few here: Peppermint Tea - one of the most popular herbal teas in the world. This tea has shown improvement in cognitive skills, mood and memory, and supports digestive tract health. It also has antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant and anticancer properties. Some studies have shown peppermint oil to reduce daytime fatigue, sleepiness, and increase alertness which may improve concentration. Ginger Tea - another popular tea, with a delightful spicy taste and fruity aroma. The anti-inflammatory properties improve blood flow and the increased circulation from it, helps boost energy. Ginger tea is used in Chinese medicine as it aims directly at the body’s energy pathways. Chamomile Tea - can help reduce stress and increase focus. It’s a soothing tea with a delicate aroma that helps prevent the release of the stress hormone - serotonin. It increases the happy hormone - dopamine, which can reduce your worries. Sage Tea - scientific studies have shown benefits, especially for brain health. Improvements were also found with memory, mood, mental function and heart health. It may also be helpful in preventing neurodegenerative diseases. It is evident that drinking tea is beneficial for your health. Drinking tea and enjoying time with your friends is also highly beneficial for your health and psychologically comforting. The traditions and rituals and art of tea-drinking and gathering with friends make us feel calmer. Psychologists at Yale University, showed there are clear social benefits and noted that people who held hot beverages, were more likely to think of each other as more caring. Gather your friends in a socially-distanced and safe manner for a hot beverage and reap the numerous health benefits and the pleasure and treasure of friendship! I’ll raise a glass for your health when I drink my tea today! Who will you share a hot beverage with? What’s your favourite season? Share in the comments below. Yours in friendship and health. 😊 😊❤️💕🍵 ☕️🍰 🧁 🍁 🍂 🔥 📖 📚 🎼 🎶 🎵 #tea #afternoontea #timefortea #alwaystimefortea #thetealady #spreadingjoy #metime #teatime #taketimeforyou #wellnesswednesday #wednesdaywisdom #fall #autumn #september #season #selfcare #healthiswealth #healing #bewell #friends #celebratethespecialmoments #seemomentsinlife #womeninbusiness #smallbusinessowner #bossladies #langley #langleybc #fraservalley #yvr
